Beginnings vw

It’s hard to know where to begin. 

I've known Carol for a long time and always been drawn to her philosophical energies and zest for life. It’s only been the past 2 years, however, that we’ve grown close and I know this is due to sharing our time of life’s passage and grief, not only losing our life’s partners, but also in realizing that suddenly we’ve grown “old.” [Funny, only my body feels old! How did this happen?]. Well, back to beginnings.

Many years ago, Carol gave me a wonderful book by Velma Wallis, Two Old Women. 

This wonderful G’witchin folk tale is all about, not only aging, but the power of friendship and commitment. In her introduction, Velma states, “This story told me that there is no limit to one’s ability – certainly not age – to accomplish in life what one must. Within each individual on this large and complicated world there lives an astounding potential of greatness. Yet it is rare that these hidden gifts are brought to life unless by the chance of fate.”

Thus, it is that we have chosen to name our blog, “Two Old Women” because it describes our hope that we can complete our journeys with dignity and grace, humor and joy, with the support and understanding of others. We came up with the idea of using this blog to share our experiences in, what I like to call, my last lap. We not only want share with each other; we hope to develop a community of like-minded persons to travel with us on this road of life … souls who might feel they are at a crossroads themselves, searching for the way to discover their heart’s joy in their life’s purpose.

A final note: we, in no way, want to restrict participation in this blog to any specific group of people. If you feel drawn to the direction we’re going, we sincerely invite you to travel with us!
